Poll of polls

Any suggestions from the readership for polls that you’d like to see on here in the future?

  1. Have you polled anything about ageing beers or what beers age the best.

  2. How about one concerning currently legal activities you'd like to see most in pubs? For example:
    Live music - amplified.
    Live music - acoustic.
    Pool.
    Quiz.
    Meet the brewer.
    TV sport.
    Games.

  3. In keeping with the curmudgeonly spirit of the blog, what about asking what readers most dislike about a pub? Things like

    - serves meals
    - admits children
    - fruit machines
    - jukebox
    - piped music (not from jukebox)
    - no real ales
    - horrendously overpriced real ales
    - boring real ales
    - doesn't serve meals
    - doesn't admit children

    ...I could go on!

I'd vote for 6, 7 and 10 in that order. The real interest for me would be the number voting for 2 - I suspect it'd be lower than you think.

  4. Phil, I did that last year.

And "noisy children" topped the poll by a wide margin...

  5. Fair enough - but I think specifying noisy children was a bit of a leading question! (I hate noisy children in pubs, too, but I hate pubs that don't admit children more.)

  6. Actually I am sick to death of children in pubs. I feel a blogpost coming on. Why the hell do certain families of the chav community suddenly decide it is a good idea to take little Kyle and Chardonnay to the pub on a weekend lunchtime?

Why can't we have some pubs that admit children and others that don't? Just like we should have some pubs that allow smoking and others that don't.

  7. "Why the hell do certain families of the chav community suddenly decide it is a good idea to take little Kyle and Chardonnay to the pub on a weekend lunchtime?" : because they dont know how to behave! And neither do certain families from the middle classes who decide to take darling Toby and Chloe to the pub especially because they are smoke free now.
