Probably drinking with Graham as I remember the TM boys. The pub did very well on the occasions I went there and you could more or less stay as long as you wanted! Quite a few of the pubs did well but there was always one or two which were the ‘in’ pubs. I certainly got the impression that this pub was one of themSiwnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5623537812609722663.post-19651744101486842742022-04-12T21:43:39.791+01:002022-04-12T21:43:39.791+01:00I was 18 and living in Llandeilo in '78 and re...I was 18 and living in Llandeilo in '78 and read parts of the book which was on sale in town at Jo Harris's in the main street. I spent many nights at the 3 tuns which was a hive of activity at the time. But a book on one pub out of 12 bars and one wine bar is missing the dynamic of life at this time. Plus on bank Holidays we would travel to Ffairfach but mainly to the Torbay. My family are described in the book but I am the youngest of seven and it gives little impression of how the bar soon filled up with 7 + friends entered the bar on a Friday afternoon. I'll read the book again though. There are a couple on eBay for around £50!Curmudgeonhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/02558747878308766840noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5623537812609722663.post-52423366513609788282016-08-23T17:10:48.099+01:002016-08-23T17:10:48.099+01:00What do you mean "any negative feedback"...What do you mean "any negative feedback"? Of course there was! I lived in Carmarthenshire around that time and drank in the "Tree Tuns" after doing a case at Llandeilo Magistrates Court about sheepdogs, just across the street. Locals threatened defamation suits and the book was pulped. Pity, it sounds fun. Please email Jonathan at jgme@btinternent.com and tell me where I might (with luck) get a surviving copy. PS - Llandeilo hasn't changed, just which pub to go to. That was when I started to hear loud and unusual activity in the house after I'd gone to bed, in a sober state, unlike those who lingered after closing time who took time to finish their drinks. When M&J returned from Cornwall and asked how the week had been I told them about the unusual noises and they exchanged a knowing look with each other. I learned later and then read about the ghost experiences which were referred to in Year in the Drink but which in my mind had as much substance as the local people I had served at the bar who were portrayed and based on local characters. I wonder if of the subsequent landlords had any experiences like this since then?CGnoreply@blogger.com
