After drinking it all evening and then talking to god on the big white telephone the next day I vowed never to touch it again. I changed my mind when presented with one as a chaser to a pint of mild in a Midlands working men's club a little while later. It is agreat way to liven up a so-so beer.Paul Garrardhttp://www.realaleblog.co.uknoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5623537812609722663.post-87473476236284703932009-08-21T17:08:27.697+01:002009-08-21T17:08:27.697+01:00Well Cookie, you're really letting your guard ...Well Cookie, you're really letting your guard down here. As self proclaimed "northern scum" I thought you would be quite happy to go to Longsight (and the New Victoria is a very good pub let me say)where all of the pubs sell cooking lager. Bit too real for you eh?John Clarkehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/00132845616834779091noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5623537812609722663.post-20670291357514676832009-08-21T16:52:43.098+01:002009-08-21T16:52:43.098+01:00And thats a reason to go to Longsight? And thats a reason to go to Longsight?Cooking Lagerhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/02830924433230427226noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5623537812609722663.post-5168144105775290982009-08-21T13:00:45.258+01:002009-08-21T13:00:45.258+01:00It is still available in bottles - the New Victori...It is still available in bottles - the New Victoria in Longsight has it.John Clarkehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/00132845616834779091noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5623537812609722663.post-26265490989498253712009-08-21T12:44:22.554+01:002009-08-21T12:44:22.554+01:00Gold Label was the only thing Whitbread brewed tha...Gold Label was the only thing Whitbread brewed that was worth drinking. In a Tetley pub I used to go to once a week for a folk club, I drank it mixed with mild to make a rather good drink. Much better than drinking Tetley's dreadful bitter. Then the pub stopped stocking it as it didn't suit the "demographic" they wished to attract: young kids playing pool. The folk club changed venue soon after.Neville Grundyhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/10923209266005338452noreply@blogger.com
